SECMAR – Secure Digitalisation for Sustainable Maritime Transport

The international SECMAR project focuses on the growing field of maritime cybersecurity.

Purpose of the report

As the maritime transport sector undergoes a rapid digital transformation, security issues are lagging behind. At the same time, IT security is essential for the successful implementation of digitization measures aimed at making transport more efficient, economical and sustainable. Moreover, poor security (both in hardware, software and usage) can expose sensitive information leading to security breaches that enable attacks, crimes and espionage.

Implementation

SECMAR shall increase the level of security in the ongoing digitalization of the maritime and logistics sector by connecting maritime stakeholders with the IT sector and the academic fields of cybersecurity, Big Data and Internet of Things. Through this approach, the project supports digitalization measures that contribute to improved quality and greener transport
