SESA – Smart Energy Solutions for Africa
SESA will facilitate a structured co-development process, starting with the co-development of energy access innovations that have a high potential for use and are tested, validated and later replicated.
Purpose of the project
The project solutions will credibly contribute to improved climate adaptation and mitigation potential in the African context, including in the urbanized and rural water and food energy nexus. In particular, the proposed solutions convincingly demonstrate that photovoltaic technologies, innovative energy storage systems, smart microgrids, waste-to-energy systems that are appropriately located in both urbanized and rural contexts in Africa.
Implementation
SESA will facilitate a structured co-development process, starting with the co-development of energy access innovations that have a high potential for use and are tested, validated and later replicated. Each technology will be demonstrated in the living lab, and a corresponding information and training package created. Each of the living lab teams will be composed of technology experts, local implementing partners (members of the consortium) together with local authorities (associated partners) and innovators (recruited through the call), guided by experts in business development, finance and policy.
