Roadmapper - a Navigator for Regional Transport Transition

This project is run by Blekinge Institute of Technology in collaboration with all major public actors and several companies in Blekinge's transport system. The project is seeking main funding from the Swedish Energy Agency's program on Transport Efficient Society and from Region Blekinge's regional growth funds.

Purpose of the project

The overall goal of the project is to develop a decision support that shows what different key actors need to do to accelerate and synchronize municipal and regional transition to competitive, fossil-free and sustainable transport.

Implementation

In line with the previously estimated improvement potentials for Southeast Sweden, the immediate societal impact of the project should be a realistic plan for how Blekinge and its municipalities could phase out fossil fuels within the timeframe set by the IPCC/Paris Agreement and at the same time reduce energy use in the transport sector by at least 1 TWh/year.

The project aims to achieve the desired societal impact through further development and use of an established strategic sustainability planning methodology and its expansion in the roadmap planning tool. Blekinge is used as a case study to spread both in Sweden and internationally how a whole region could be changed.
