The role of a head of subject for third-cycle education is to support heads of department and deans in the work of quality assurance and development of third-cycle education and related research at BTH.
The duties of the subject representatives are listed below:
- Responsible for preparing proposals for the revision of the general syllabus in the third-cycle subject for the dean's decision. Revision is done at least every three years in accordance with instructions in the quality system.
- Responsible for analyzing the status of the third-cycle subject and initiating a dialogue with those active in the subject, head of department, dean and vice-chancellor every three years prior to the revision of the general syllabus.
- Responsible for organizing and anchoring the self-evaluation work and for informing those concerned about the results in connection with external quality evaluation of the third-cycle subject and related research.
- Monitor how the third-cycle subject and related research areas develop nationally and internationally.
- Be part of a BTH-wide network of subject representatives.
- Be responsible for how the subject of doctoral education and related research is communicated internally and externally.
- Assist the Vice-Chancellor and Deans in research ethics issues and the handling of research misconduct or other serious deviations from good research practice.
