Martin Magnevall
Senior Lecturer
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Room J3412, Karlskrona
Research domain: Mechanical Engineering
Follow me:
Martin was born in Karlskrona and received his master’s degree in structural mechanics at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) in 2004. Thereafter Martin continued as a PhD candidate at BTH, and as an industrial PhD candidate at Sandvik Coromant, he obtained his PhD in 2011. The research topic was simulation, identification and experimental testing of non-linear mechanical systems. After finishing his studies Martin continued working at Sandvik Coromant as a research engineer, expert and technology area manager until 2019. The work at Sandvik Coromant comprised modeling, simulation and experimental testing of mechanical systems with focus on machine tools, cutting tools and machining dynamics. For his work, Martin was awarded an innovation prize in 2014 for the development of optimized differential pitch milling cutters and was awarded the Sandvik Coromant Global Top Achiever in 2017. During 2016-2019, he held a part time position as adjunct senior lecturer at the department of industrial production at University West, responsible for industrial cooperation and research within machining dynamics. In 2018 Martin also started working part time at BTH as a senior lecturer at the department of mechanical engineering. As a lecturer he has developed and held courses at basic, master and post graduate levels, both in industry and academia, and has been industrial supervisor for 2 PhD candidates. Within the role as lecturer and expert Martin has given invited speeches and seminars at e.g. Ferrari F1 and Boeing.
Since 2019 Martin is working full time at the department of mechanical engineering at BTH as senior lecturer teaching courses in e.g. manufacturing technology and modal analysis.
Martin has a strong interest as well as academic and industrial research experience within experimental measurement methods, transient simulations of mechanical systems, optimization, metal cutting, vibration testing and machining Dynamics.
