Research domain: Software Engineering

Dr. Tony Gorschek is Professor of Software Engineering at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Sweden, and a visiting researcher at fortiss Germany and works internationally collaborating with international research institutes and industrial partners. His research focuses on empirical software engineering and evidence based approaches for engineering software intensive systems. Central topics include requirements engineering, technology and product management, value based software development, and methods for transferring research results into industrial practice.

He has more than fifteen years of industrial experience in roles such as CTO, chief architect, product manager, engineer, and senior executive consultant. This background strongly shapes his research, which is conducted in close collaboration with industry and focuses on practical impact.

Dr. Gorschek has authored a large body of scientific publications in leading scientific journals and conferences and his work has received significant academic impact with more than ten thousand citations. His current research investigates how (generative) artificial intelligence, changes software engineering practices and how software engineering methods must evolve to engineer systems that incorporate non deterministic AI components.
