Access to Software

As a student at BTH, you have access to a range of software and digital tools that can be installed on your own computer or used directly online. Here you will find information on how to download and use the most important programs.

Microsoft Office and other Microsoft products

Install Office
As a student, you get free access to Office Online and can also download the latest version of Microsoft Office to your computer, tablet or mobile.

Here's how you do it:

  1. Go to portal.office.com and log in with your BTH account (abcd12@student.bth.se) and password.
  2. In the bottom left corner, click on "Apps -> All Apps". Now a new buttom will show up in the upper right corner "Install apps". Select apps and follow the instructions.
  3. Log in again when you are asked to activate the installation.

On mobile, download apps such as Word and Excel via the App Store or Google Play and log in with the same details.

Azure DevTools for Education
Via Azure DevTools you can download Microsoft programs for education. Log in with your BTH account.

Other programs and tools

  • Affinity (Photo, Designer and Publisher) - Free for BTH students. The license is valid for one year at a time. Books about the software are available to borrow from the library. Click here to download.
  • AutoCAD and Autodesk - Free access for students. Create an account with your @student.bth.se address on Autodesk Education.
  • Abaqus - Free student version available for download at Abaqus Student Edition.
  • MatLab - Use MatLab Online directly through MathWorks or download the program. Note. Older versions than R2023b will not work.
  • STATA - Free to install on your personal computer, click here to download.
  • Claro Read Plus and Claro Spell - Programs for speech synthesis and spelling. Contact ithelpdesk@bth.se for instructions and license key. The tool is also available directly in Canvas under the Listen button.

Reference management and writing tools

  • OverLeaf - Online LaTeX editor: OverLeaf BTH.
  • Zotero - Reference management tool: Download Zotero. Support is provided by BTH's library.
