Student account
Your student account at Blekinge Institute of Technology is the key to your studies. It gives you access to e-mail, Microsoft 365, computer labs and other important resources. Here you can read about how to activate and protect your account for a smooth study time.
How to activate your student account
If you are a new student, you need to activate your account. Your student account will be available about four weeks before the term starts.
- Fall semester: From the end of July
- Spring semester: from the end of December
Problems with activation?
If you get an error message saying the account doesn't exist, wait a day or two and try again. Still not working? Contact studentreception@bth.se.

Reactivate your student account
Important to know:
- If you do not have an ongoing course registration after reactivation, the account will be deactivated again after 60 days.
- Your account will be deleted two years after active registration.
Safer login with two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) gives your account extra protection by requiring an extra verification in addition to the password when you log in to BTH's system.
Why use 2FA?
- It protects your account from unauthorized access.
- It reduces the risk of account hijacking and data loss.
How it works
When you log in you need to:
- Enter your password.
- Confirm the login via your chosen method, such as Microsoft Authenticator.
How to enable two-factor authentication
The first time you log in, you will be asked to choose an additional authentication method. The IT Office recommends the Microsoft Authenticator app as it is more secure than SMS.
Change settings for 2FA
Why Microsoft Authenticator?
- As easy to use as BankID.
- More secure than SMS or phone calls.
- Allows you to authenticate with numeric code, fingerprint or facial recognition.
Good to know
- If you've already signed in with 2FA on your device, you don't need to do it again, as long as you use the same device and password.
- If you log in on a new device or with a new password, you will need to confirm the 2FA login again.
- If you are using an incognito or private window, you must always log in with 2FA.

Raise the assurance level on your student account
(Only applies if you have a Swedish personal identity number in Ladok.)
To log in to Ladok, your student account needs to have a high assurance level.
What does assurance level mean?
The assurance level shows how sure we are that you own the account. To get a high assurance level, you need to prove your identity, that is, verify who you are.
How to raise your assurance level
- Log in to your account.
- Select "Raise assurance level" under "Account trust level".
Prove your identity with e-identification
The easiest way to prove your identity is to use BankID or Freja eID Plus.
If you do not have an e-ID
You can use a one-time code instead. Here's how you do it:
- Get a code at the reception or at the IT helpdesk by showing an approved ID document.
- If you cannot come to BTH, you can get the code via an online meeting with the IT helpdesk.
- We can also send a code to your registered address.
Contact the IT helpdesk at ithelpdesk@bth.se or call 0455-38 51 00 if you need help.
Be cautious with apps
If you log in to apps using your student account, you are also giving them access to your BTH services. In some cases, the app may act on your behalf and gain access to functions and information that should only be available to you.
Never share your username or password with anyone else.
Also, be alert to phishing
This involves fake emails, text messages or websites that try to trick you into revealing your login details. Do not click on suspicious links and never share your password via email.
Personal data
Your personal integrity is important to the university. BTH handles your personal data in accordance with current personal data and privacy legislation. Information about what this means, what data we collect, why we do it and how it is used, stored and protected can be found here.
