Study environment and health

At Blekinge Institute of Technology, everyone should have a safe, secure and inspiring study environment. We strive for a sustainable and developing work and study environment where you as a student can thrive and feel good.

BTH has zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, victimisation, threats and violence. We want everyone to feel respected and welcome here.

As a student, you are equated with employees in the Work Environment Act (with a few exceptions), which means that you have both rights and obligations. Together we create a safe and inclusive university!

Your study environment

Your study environment at BTH should give you the best conditions to succeed with your studies. It should be adapted to the requirements of the education and also take into account your individual needs - both physical and mental.

BTH works actively to prevent ill health and accidents and strives for a safe and inclusive study environment. As a student, you are an important part of this work - together we create an environment where everyone can thrive and feel good.

Organisational and social study environment

The organisational and social study environment is about how we collaborate, communicate and create a good atmosphere on campus. This includes everything from participation and management to how we treat each other in studies and group work.

Physical study environment

Your physical study environment affects your wellbeing and performance. Factors such as air quality, noise level, light, ergonomics and working postures play a major role in your everyday study life. BTH works to ensure that you have a comfortable and healthy environment to study in.

Digital study environment

The digital study environment is an important part of your studies, whether you study on campus or from home. This includes both the technology and systems that enable learning, and the impact of digital tools on your physical and psychological work environment.

Alcohol and drug policy

BTH is an alcohol and drug-free study and workplace. We all have a shared responsibility to create a safe and pleasant environment where everyone can perform at their best.

Efficiency, safety and well-being must never be affected by alcohol or drugs. If someone is under the influence on campus or in a teaching context, staff have the right to ask them to leave.

Contributing to a safe study environment

Your safety and well-being, and that of others, is important. By taking responsibility and paying attention, you can help create a safe and positive study environment.

  • Follow safety instructions and use protective equipment where necessary, such as gloves, safety glasses or hearing protection.
  • Report deficiencies in the study environment, such as accidents, incidents, discrimination or victimsation.
  • Show respect for others and contribute to a supportive and inclusive study atmosphere.
