When you are admitted as a student at Blekinge Institute of Technology, you must make an online application or contact housing companies available in Karlskrona in order to find accommodation. We highly recommend that you start looking as soon as possible after receiving your admission letter to avoid having to stay a considerable time in a hostel before you can get a student room.
Looking for Housing in Karlskrona
If you want to live close enough to campus to almost see BTH from your window, keep an eye out for available housing in Galgamarken or Campus Gräsvik. If you prefer to live in the centre of Karlskrona, it takes about 15 minutes to reach campus by bike or bus.

There are many different landlords in Blekinge to explore. For example, you can commute to Karlskrona by train or bus from the nearby municipalities of Ronneby and Karlshamn.
Ronneby
Ronneby is located between Karlskrona and Karlshamn. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to travel from Ronneby to Karlskrona by train or bus.

Karlshamn is about 45 minutes from Karlskrona by train. There are also various types of housing available in the area.

Bicycle or car
There are plenty of covered bicycle racks where you can park your bike. If you arrive by car, you will need a parking permit, which you can collect at the reception.
By Bus or Train
You can plan your journey and buy tickets using Blekingetrafiken’s app.

Nearest bus stop: Campus Gräsvik
Nearest train station: Bergåsa station (if you miss this stop, you will arrive at Karlskrona Central Station)
Other important information
When you apply for an apartment, remember to check:
- How much to pay in rent
- What is included in the rent (internet, electricity etc)
- If you are allowed to live together with friends
- If the apartment is furnished or not
Property Insurance (home insurance)
BTH recommends all students to individually purchase property insurance (hemförsäkring) from a Swedish or international insurance company. Personal property refers to your personal belongings that are not covered by any insurance at BTH, e.g. clothing, jewellery, bicycles, computers, cameras, etc.
