Get Started

Welcome to BTH! On this page you will find information about how to get started with your student account, registrations and learning platform.

Checklist to get started

Activate your student account

Activate your student account. Your student account will be available about four weeks before the term starts. It gives you access to most of the systems you will use in your studies.

Log in to Canvas

Log in to the Canvas learning platform to start your courses.
Each course has a page in Canvas where your teachers share important information.

Registration

You must be registered for your courses to take part in teaching and examinations. Registration must be completed within the designated registration period.

You need to register every semester for the courses you have been admitted to and intend to study. This is done in “Ladok for students”.

3-week Control

At the start of each course, the teacher will carry out a 3-week control. If you are not active in the course, you will be registered in Ladok as having withdrawn from your studies at an early stage.

Re-registration

If you do not pass a course within the designated period you can register for the next course session (subject to certain conditions stated in the course syllabus). The easiest way to re-register is via “Ladok for students”.

Academic calendar

The academic year consists of two semesters, each divided into two study periods.

There are no official holidays at the university, but teaching usually does not take place over Christmas. However, you may still be expected to work independently on assignments. Make sure to check in advance what applies to your courses.

Exam weeks

There is usually an exam week between two study periods and at the end of each semester. There are also re-examination weeks, for example after New Year and after summer. A good tip is to check the dates for exams, re-exams, submissions and resubmissions before the course begins. This gives you a clear overview and helps you plan your studies more effectively.
