Blekinge Institute of Technology and the defence and security company Saab Sweden have signed a collaboration agreement concerning research, education, and innovation. The purpose of the agreement is to develop activities for the benefit of both parties within strategic areas for collaboration.
The agreement was signed today by Henric Johnson, Vice-Chancellor at BTH, Christian Hedelin, Chief Strategy Officer of Saab, Petter Bedoire, Chief Technology Officer of Saab and Mats Wicksell, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Kockums.
The agreement is a platform for long-term and strategic competence provisioning, providing added value to mutually strengthen BTH and Saab.
“Saab is an important strategic partner. By deepening and formalising the collaboration, we see even greater opportunities to develop research, education, and innovations together. Academia and the business sector need to work closely and in the long term to solve today’s complex technological and societal challenges," says Henric Johnson, Vice-Chancellor at BTH.
Together, BTH and Saab will develop activities within education and research for the benefit of both parties and make competence and resources available to each other. Focus areas include, e.g. systems engineering, computer science and software engineering.
“BTH’s profile of applied research and long tradition of collaboration with business and society, to a very large extent, meets Saab’s needs in areas such as machine learning and marine technology,” says Christian Hedelin, Chief Strategy Officer of Saab.
