BTH research is behind an award-winning European cybersecurity project
The European cybersecurity project CISSAN, in which researchers from BTH are participating, has received the highest rating in an international final review. The project is developing new methods to protect critical infrastructure against cyberattacks.
As critical infrastructure becomes increasingly digitised and interconnected within smart grids, transport and manufacturing, cybersecurity challenges are growing. Today’s isolated systems struggle to detect and manage sophisticated, cross-domain attacks.
In the project, which brings together 18 partners in Finland, Sweden, Austria and Spain, researchers have developed methods whereby connected systems can collaborate to detect and manage cyber threats.
“BTH has contributed research on how artificial intelligence and automated information exchange can be used to detect and manage cyber threats more effectively,” says Professor Kurt Tutschku, who has led BTH’s work on the project.
The Swedish consortium was formed by seven Swedish companies and institutions, including four from Blekinge (Affärsverken Energi i Karlskrona AB, Blue Science Park, BTH and Techinova). The Swedish consortium was jointly led by BTH (scientifically) and Blue Science Park (organisationally).
The project has developed solutions that make it easier for systems to share threat information, detect anomalies, and recover from cyberattacks. The aim is to create more robust and flexible cybersecurity solutions for businesses and organisations across Europe.
