ADSUP, Advanced Pattern digitalization Set-Up for stamping & HPDC Applications

The ADSUP project further expands on the impact of the CAMBER project, reducing the lead time of tool tryout in the material forming industry. The tool cost for the manufacturing of components, i.e. in the automotive sector, has a huge impact on the total manufacturing cost, why a reduction of the effort and lead time to have a production ready tool is of high interest for the industry.

The proposed project aims to digitize the spotting process of the tools, which today is heavily reliant on operator expertise, why the quality of tool can vary from operator to operator. The main objective of the project is to validate the concept of capturing images from the spotting process and converting them into a digital spotting assistance tool, which currently has only been successfully shown at a laboratory scale. The method validated in this project sets out to convert the aforementioned images into a range of quality metrics, e.g. contact pressure, through the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the goal of reducing the tryout time of the tool by 20%. A secondary objective of the proposed project is to validate current contact formulations in commercial Finite Element (FE) codes used in industry.
