Report published about decision support for a circular and sustainable built environment

  • News

The SustainTrans+ team has published the final report from the pre-study Roadmapper Bygg

In the report, the authors Henrik Ny, Lisa Wälitalo, and Sven Borén wrote about the work in the pre-study and concluded that the following decision support could be helpful for small and medium-sized companies and other stakeholder towards circular and sustainable built environment:

(1)...free advice for SMEs,

(2)...knowledge databases,

(3)...training initiatives,

(4)...function-based community planning,

(5)...digital portals for recycling and

(6)...development of economic models and regulations that promote circularity.

The interviews confirmed the relevance and provided in-depth views, e.g. the need for life cycle cost analyses, clearer requirements formulations and support for risk sharing in recycling.
The feasibility study showed that a future implementation project should develop a digital decision support integrated into the Roadmapper Bygg platform, with a focus on strategic decisions for SMEs and local community planning. The project should also specify the decision support needs, co-development of strategic decision support and decision support for community planning together with the target groups, integration into Roadmapper Bygg, pilot projects, knowledge transfer and establishment of long-term collaboration structures. The implementation is assessed to be able to strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs, increase circularity in the sector and contribute to several of the UN's global sustainability goals.
