Dr. Maycel Isaac is an adjunct professor at the Department of Software Engineering at Blekinge Institute of Technology, with a special focus on AI-driven innovation and software startups. He combines over two decades of experience in advanced AI and computer vision with a successful career as a serial entrepreneur and business developer.

With a PhD in Computer Vision and AI from Chalmers University of Technology and Halmstad University, he leads several technology companies in data, artificial intelligence and innovative digital platforms.

His research ranges from biometric systems, multimodal AI methods, and real-time analytics to modern applications of machine learning in transportation, industry, test automation, and recommendation systems. He has published a large number of scientific papers, book chapters, and patents in the fields of computer vision, liveness detection, and biometrics, including pioneering work on lip movement-based identity recognition as well as recent research in LLM-based software testing and intelligent transportation systems.

In parallel with his academic career, he is the founder, owner and CEO of Synteda Group – a group of companies that develops scalable AI and data-intensive solutions for business and the public sector. He also leads several technology companies and is co-founder of the investment company Zero2Heaven. In these roles, he works actively to identify and develop innovative business models, build high-performing organizations, create strategic partnerships and translate research results into commercially viable products.

Maycel Isaac also contributes nationally and internationally as an advisor, speaker and investor in AI, innovation and startup ecosystems. He has extensive experience in conducting innovation and technology due diligence, evaluating intellectual property strategies and promoting sustainable and ethically responsible technologies. His global network in academia and industry makes him a key player in bridging the gap between research, technology development and entrepreneurship.

At BTH, he engages in issues related to AI-powered software products, startup methodology, technology-oriented entrepreneurship and how innovative ideas can be developed into scalable digital companies. His work supports BTH's vision to combine academic excellence with socially relevant technology development and industrial renewal.
