Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (DIDA) is one of three departments at the Faculty of Computing. We are BTH's largest department with just over 70 employees.

Within DIDA we are divided into four groups:

The Department of Computer Science is located in buildings H and J on Campus Karlskrona.

All research conducted within the department is applied, which is in line with BTH's strategy. Research is conducted in the following areas at DIDA:

  • Cloud Computing & Distributed Systems
  • Data Science
  • Computer Graphics and Visualisation
  • Digital game development
  • Cryptography and computer security
  • Methods and techniques for human-computer systems
  • Performance optimisation and parallel computing systems

Research activities

The department conducts research in the field of computer science. It includes the sub-areas big data and AI, parallel computing, visual and interactive data science, and security and distributed systems.

  • French Embassy Delegation Visits BTH to Explore Research Collaboration

    Blekinge Institute of Technology welcomed a delegation from the French Embassy in Stockholm, led by Ambassador Thierry Carlier and Science and Academic Cooperation Attaché Yan Pautrat, following their visit to Saab earlier the same day.
  • BTH researcher honoured with the Women in Engineering Best Paper Award

    Dr Thi My Chinh Chu, senior lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, has been honoured with the Women in Engineering Best Paper Award at the 20th IEEE International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics that was held in St. John’s, Canada.
  • BTH and Saab Sign Strategic Collaboration Agreement

    Blekinge Institute of Technology and the defence and security company Saab Sweden have signed a collaboration agreement concerning research, education, and innovation. The purpose of the agreement is to develop activities for the benefit of both parties within strategic areas for collaboration.
  • New opportunity for students: Double Degree Programme with universities in Germany and Italy

    Thanks to BTH’s membership in the Bauhaus4EU alliance, BTH students now have the opportunity to receive a double degree. The jointly executed programmes mark a milestone in the cooperation within the alliance. Already in the Autumn of 2025, students can study a double degree programme in “European Urban and Planning Studies” and, from the autumn of 2026, in “Innovation Management”.
