As games and interactive systems generate more data than ever before, it is of the utmost importance to train students in visualisation techniques and immersive data analysis. The course covers methods for the visualisation and interactive analysis of complex data, with a particular focus on immersive techniques and how they compare with traditional 2D/3D techniques. The content covers theories and principles of visualisation and visual data analysis (a combination of human analysis and algorithmic analysis), as well as the design and implementation of visualisations in XR environments. Furthermore, perceptual and cognitive principles linked to immersive data analysis are addressed.
