Setting and student life
BTH
BTH is a research and teaching university, serving about 7,000+ students each year through 20 undergraduate programmes and 11 Master’s programmes taught in Swedish or English, as well as numerous PhD candidates. Together, the faculty, staff and students represent over 70 countries. The sustainability research at BTH has been deemed excellent and internationally leading by independent external evaluators.
Academic experience
Studying in Sweden often differs from educational traditions in many other countries. Although academic standards are high, the learning environment is characterised by openness and a colleagial atmosphere, encouraging students to shape their own thinking. Interactions between students and faculty are informal and collaboration, independent initiative, and a questioning mindset all play central roles.
Lifestyle
Classroom time is only one element of what you’ll experience here. Each cohort brings together people with different strengths and backgrounds, creating space for students to organise their own activities and adventures. This mix ensures that your time in Karlskrona becomes something truly personal and memorable. The bonds that form along the way often grow into a vibrant, global community of sustainability practitioners long after the programme ends.
The Programme is designed as a learning journey, which you will be part of with an international cohort. You will have close interaction with our sister programme, MSLS, both in the classroom and outside. With STRIDES we hope to build on the MSLS culture (see more here) as well as create our own.
Karlskrona
The university is located in the city of Karlskrona, the capital of Region Blekinge in the south of Sweden. The city is situated on an archipelago and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its unique naval heritage. You can find amazing videos of this city and its natural beauty at our MSLS website.
