Artificial intelligence AI can reduce weed seeds in seeds

This project aims to solve the problem of unintentional spreading of weed seeds during sowing. The project is run by Blekinge Institute of Technology and has a focus on tall fescue, a weed that is similar to red fescue and thus difficult to separate during seed sorting.

By using advanced AI, the hope is to effectively separate tall fescue seeds from red fescue seeds. The goal is to improve seed quality with the support of digitization, where sustainability is in focus.
The project is funded by the Swedish Board of Agriculture through the EIP program and has the potential to find new solutions that can be useful for future sustainable agriculture.

The project is conducted together with Blekinge Institute of Technology's project partners: Skånefrö AB, Sveriges Frö- och Oljeväxtodlare ek. för. and JU information AB.
