Accommodation

Accommodation

BTH is located in the archipelago of Blekinge, in two cities of perfect size – small enough to provide peace of mind for studying and inexpensive to live in – but large enough to offer things to see, do and experience. In Blekinge you are in close proximity to most things – the sea, urban life and nature experiences. All distances here are short and the bike often becomes your best friend.

In Blekinge, there are many different landlords in which you can turn to. You can commute by train and bus from the nearby municipalities of Ronneby and Sölvesborg to both Campus Gräsvik in Karlskrona and Campus Karlshamn. Between our campus’ it is about 45 minutes by train. Information about student housing can be found on Blekinge Student Union’s website. Do you have questions about student housing in Blekinge or do you need help? Contact the Student Union at bostad@bthstudent.se. You are also welcome to contact BTH´s Accommodation coordinator at accommodation@bth.se and address any questions you have.

Note! Blekinge Institute of Technology has no student accommodations and cannot make reservations for students. In order to find accommodation, you have to make an online application or send an email to the housing companies.

If you have not applied for housing before your arrival, you may have to stay a considerable time in a hostel before you can get a student room.

When you apply for an apartment, remember to check:

  • How much to pay in rent
  • What is included in the rent (internet, electricity etc)
  • If you are allowed to live together with friends
  • If the apartment is furnished or not

Property Insurance (home insurance)

BTH recommends all students to individually purchase property insurance (hemförsäkring) from a Swedish or international insurance company. Personal property refers to your personal belongings that are not covered by any insurance at BTH, e.g. clothing, jewellery, bicycles, computers, cameras, etc.
