Bibliometrics
Bibliometrics means research on scientific communication and is a type of publication measurement (biblos: book and metron: measure). The basis of nearly all bibliometric research are publications, authors or sources and references – separately or combined. Bibliometrics can for example be used to analyse research.
Fields of Application
- Basis for evaluation of research, with the help of citation and article counting.
- Describing the social structure of research and contents specialization.
- Analysing information use and demand.
- Visualization of information quantities.
