Welcome letter (published 3 weeks before start)
Become a better leader and boost your engineering career with an MBA from BTH. The MBA is a part-time distance programme, allowing you to combine studies with work and complete your studies from home.
Our MBA programme is designed to give engineers more opportunities and competence. You will develop your ability to integrate technology with finance in an engineering context and build on previous experiences with fresh knowledge of strategy, financing, organisation and leadership.
Become more attractive in the labour market
After graduation, all graduates will be prepared for new, exciting professional challenges. The programme allows you to advance your career or change direction – perhaps towards entrepreneurship or a more leading professional role. You will acquire new skills and knowledge that make you attractive in the job market, and you can work as, for instance, a manager, project manager or consultant.
To fulfil the programme requirements regarding work experience, you must attach an employer certificate (in Swedish or English). Download the certificate template here.
Please contact the Admissions Office with any questions regarding the entry requirements.
The programme consists of 60 credits and leads to a Master’s degree.
The tuition fee is SEK 70,000 for one year. One semester corresponds to 15 ECTS credits. EU/EEA citizens are not required to pay fees.
Do you have any questions about the programme? Please send them to us using the form on the International Student Guide.
Programme content
Evolve your career as an engineer
The programme suits professionally active engineers who want to advance their careers, especially towards more leading roles in projects or organisations. Since the study programme runs part-time and on distance, you can combine studies with work.
Specific courses to optimise your degree
The programme consists of six courses and a degree project to develop your ability to integrate technological and economic skills in an engineering context. The courses included in the programme cover subjects such as strategy, finance and management.
International experience and borderless networks
Each year, students from all over the world come to BTH to study MBA. This gives our students intercultural skills when working on group assignments and projects. At the same time, you will develop an international network that creates new possibilities after graduation.
You will use the learning platform Canvas to complete your studies. The platform is used to post information, access pre-recorded lectures or links to Zoom live lectures, participate in online discussions and submit assignments, among other things.

Students who apply for a course or programme, and meet the general and specific entry requirements, compete with one another for available places. When there are more qualified applicants than there are places for an education, the places are distributed through a selection. Read about the selection methods and procedure here.
The study programmes at BTH are continuously monitored and developed through yearly follow-up dialogues, course evaluations after each completed course, and programme evaluations. Results from follow-ups and evaluations can lead to changes in the programmes. These changes are always communicated to the students.
Each educational programme is tied to an advisory board that discusses issues such as the quality of the programme, its development, and relevance for the labour market. In the advisory board, or a committee to the advisory board, teachers, external members, students and alumni are represented.
The broadness was very valuable for me, even if I already have been working for many years, it gave an insight and deeper knowledge.
