FAQ – database access

FAQ - Database access

The library subscribes to a large number of databases, especially for students and teachers/researchers at Blekinge Institute of Technology. We offer login via proxy server so that you can use the databases off campus also.

If you are using the library’s information resources outside of Campus you will be automatically directed to the login page.

Login with your usual student/BTH-account and you will be linked to the database you selected. All students who are registered at BTH will receive an account by contacting the IT-department (this also applies to BTH staff).

Checklist for when you have access problems

1. Are you using the database links on the BTH library website?
It is necessary to use these links in order to identify yourself as a BTH student or employee (by logging in with your account). Without this identification you won’t get access to the databases.

2. Are you using the correct login?
You must use your student account to access the databases. Student users/acronyms can look like this for example: mda99eno or evno02. All students who are registered at the BTH will receive an account by contacting IT-department (this also applies to BTH staff). Do not use your library card number and PIN code.

3. Which Internet browser are you using?
Some databases will not display properly in Internet Explorer, so try another browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

4. It’s still not working?
If you have tried the steps above and it still doesn’t work you should send an error report.

5. Can you get to Campus?
After you have sent your error report it may take some time before we can locate the error, but we will of course work as quickly as we can. In the mean time, if you are able to, you can try to use one of the computers on the BTH Campus to access the articles you require. Sometimes the problem can concern the proxy server, which means that the databases are accessible from Campus but not from home.
